Agreement
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Sarthak Patel, an individual developer based in Tennessee, USA, who makes and runs Stillfold (“Stillfold”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Stillfold app, the service behind it, share-link pages and stillfold.app. By using Stillfold, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and is part of these terms.
Your Account
- You need to be at least 13 to create an account, and old enough in your country to agree to these terms (or have a parent or guardian agree for you).
- Give accurate sign-in information and keep access to your Apple, Google or email account secure. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account. Family members should each have their own and share shelves.
Your Content Stays Yours
You own the documents and information you put in Stillfold (“your content”). You give us only the permission we need to store, back up, sync and deliver your encrypted content to you and the people you choose, and to run Auto-fill when you turn it on. That permission ends when your content is deleted.
Only add documents you have the right to keep. For other people’s documents, such as your parents’ or children’s, make sure you’re entitled to hold them and that sharing them with others on a shelf is fine with the person they belong to.
Your Keys and Recovery Code
Stillfold is end-to-end encrypted: your documents can only be opened with keys on your devices and those of people you share with. We don’t have your keys.
You are responsible for keeping your recovery code safe. If you lose access to every device and your recovery code, we cannot recover your encrypted documents, and we aren’t liable for that loss.
Shelves, Invites and Share Links
- When you invite someone to a shelf, they can see, and depending on their role change, the documents on it. Choose roles with care. Managers decide who is on a shelf.
- A share link lets anyone who has it (and its passcode, if you set one) see what you shared until it expires or you turn it off. You are responsible for the links you create and who you send them to. Anything shown on a screen can be photographed or copied, whatever the download setting.
Acceptable Use
Don’t use Stillfold to:
- store or share anything illegal, or documents you have no right to hold,
- forge, alter or misuse identity documents, or commit fraud or identity theft,
- harass people or send unwanted invites,
- break the law or anyone else’s rights,
- try to break into, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its limits or security, or
- use automated means to access it, other than the app and share-link pages as intended.
We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Because content is encrypted, we usually can’t see it; we act on what we can verify.
The Service
- Limits. Each person has 2 GB of storage for the shelves they create, files can be up to 50 MB, and a shelf can have up to 20 people. We may change limits, and will give notice of significant changes.
- Early days. Stillfold is new and still changing. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. Keep your original physical documents; Stillfold is a convenient copy, not a replacement for them.
- Auto-fill can make mistakes. Check the details it fills in before relying on them.
- Reminders are a help, not a guarantee. You remain responsible for renewing your documents in time.
Ending Your Use
You can stop using Stillfold at any time, and delete your account in the app under You, Delete account. What happens then is described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to by law. If we decide to shut Stillfold down, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice where we can, so you can save your documents.
Provided as Is
Stillfold is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that data will never be lost.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, documents, profits or opportunities (for example, a missed appointment or an expired document), arising from your use of Stillfold. Our total liability for any claim relating to Stillfold is limited to US$50.
Some places don’t allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can’t be limited by law.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Stillfold after that, the new terms apply.
Apple
If you got Stillfold from Apple’s App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Stillfold or its support, and Apple’s standard terms for App Store apps also apply.
